Assessment notices have been mailed out as of April 1. 2021. The notices are NOT A BILL, but a notice as to the value the Assessor’s office has established for the property noted. For Residential, Multi Residential, Commercial and Industrial Property the value is to be a reasonable indication to market value. For Agricultural Property, the value is based upon a 5-year county wide productivity formula that is then spread across all agricultural property by means of land use and CSR2 soil ratings. Property owners have several means of appeal. The first being an informal appeal with the Assessor that is to be filed April 2 – April 25. The second being a formal appeal to the Board of Review. The appeal is filed through the Assessor’s Office April 2 – April 30 and postmarked no later than April 30. The appeal forms can be found here on this website, on the Iowa State Association of Assessor’s website or the Iowa Department of Revenue website.
